The Four Hard Edges Of War is based on the book of the same name by Andre de Korvin, a poet from Houston, TX. We started with his reading of the book, and composed beats, pianos, and electronica at Stanford University’s CCRMA (Center For Computer Research In Music And Acoustics). The record was mixed there and at NQuit in Albuquerque, as well as in several different locations over time (see the article by Aaron Trumm in Recording Magazine, “The Evolution Of Evolutionary Mixing” (August 2014) ).
All pianos are live grand pianos played by Aaron J. Trumm, and there were a variety of crazy techniques used to compose the music, including writing programs that write music in Scheme, using Linux audio tools like PD and Ardour, and more. Click here for more detailed nerd information!
